Do you need a vaccination? Book an appointment on campus today!

Did you know you can conveniently receive a range of vaccinations on campus?

The Deakin Medical Centres can administer several vaccinations to students, with most vaccines available either free or at a reasonable cost. Available vaccines include those required for course-related immunisations (such as for nursing and midwifery students) and general immunisations pertaining to travel health, influenza and mpox (previously known as monkeypox).

What do I need to do to be vaccinated on campus?

If you are wanting to receive travel vaccines or course-related vaccines at a Deakin Medical Centre, you’ll need to book an initial appointment with a doctor to review your vaccine requirements and eligibility, and to organise any necessary blood tests. All students need to have a hard copy of ALL previous vaccinations including childhood, schooling, and any travel vaccination PRIOR to attending your doctor’s appointment.

A reminder that it is not late to get your flu vaccine on campus! Flu vaccines are still available and you can get yours by booking an appointment with the campus nurse

For full details, see the Vaccinations webpage on the Current Students webpage.

What about the mpox vaccine – do I need this?

Mpox is a viral infection that usually results in a mild illness, from which most people recover quickly and without complications. However, some people may develop severe illness and require hospitalisation. Find out more about mpox and whether you may be at risk via the Victorian Department of Health website.

The mpox vaccine is currently available at the Burwood and Waurn Ponds campuses. If you would like to discuss your eligibility to receive an mpox vaccine on campus, please book an initial appointment with a doctor or a nurse to review your vaccine requirements.
