Have your say: how should we invest the 2024 Student Services and Amenities Fee?

Each year, you contribute to the quality of your Deakin experience through a Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF). All Australian universities charge this fee, which is used for a select list of student services.

Logo with text: Supported by SSAFOver the past few years, we’ve used SSAF revenue to invest in student welfare, facilities and social activities. This includes sporting upgrades across our campuses, services for when you’re having a tough time with study or life in general, improved Student Central facilities, student media, and Deakin’s clubs and societies.

These services and amenities create a vibrant, diverse and supportive Deakin community culture to support and inspire you.

Here’s how we’re spending the SSAF money in 2023.

Giving you what you need

We want the SSAF investment to reflect the way you learn.

In 2024, we’ll offer flexible study via our premium digital and physical learning environments, supported by our inclusive and accessible services. Learning experiences will be tailored to the discipline and study mode, both online and on-campus.

If you’re studying online units, you’ll have online classes, seminars and interactive learning experiences. If you’re studying on-campus units, you’ll have an integrated learning experience – online activities will be complemented by classes, seminars and hands-on learning at our vibrant campuses.

Our SSAF investment needs to encompass this broad offering, covering everything from student support services and resources to events and activities.

What are your priority areas for the 2024 SSAF?

Deakin consults with various groups on how to spend SSAF revenue, including student representative bodies such as DUSA. We also want to hear from you – what do you think are the most important services and amenities for students, and are there any areas that need extra attention?

The proposed uses for the SSAF revenue in 2024 are:
