Whether you’re just starting at Deakin or a returning student, check out our amazing DeakinACTIVE fitness centres and facilities on campus if you haven’t already done so – we’re here to help you move your body, de-stress from your studies, get strong and have fun!
Just a few minutes of aerobic exercise can boost your memory, attention and learning for up to two hours, so staying physically active between your classes is one of the best things you can do to establish a strong and sustainable study routine.

If you sign up to DeakinACTIVE during OWeek or throughout T2, we’ll waive the joining fee! We offer students discounted memberships and no lock-in contracts.

Try our DeakinPLAY social sports competitions
New season starts from 10 July! Get your mates together to make up a team, or join DeakinPLAY as an individual and we’ll add you into a team. Mixed netball and mixed 3×3 basketball are being held at both the Burwood and Waurn Ponds campuses, with additional mixed badminton doubles competitions taking place at Waurn Ponds. All ages and abilities welcome!

Get strong, stay safe
We believe in inclusion for every body and everyone. Every Wednesday morning from 7–10am, DeakinACTIVE provides a Safe Space inside our facilities that is welcoming and accessible to all. We invite all students and staff who may be neurodivergent, part of our LGBTIQ+ community and/or who may have a mental or physical disability, to come and train with us at no cost and with no obligations. Winter wellbeing from home
If you’re studying online or looking to decompress from home, take advantage of our free online wellbeing classes! Register below to join your live session(s) via Zoom.
- Monday: Yoga, 12.15–1pm
- Tuesday/Thursday: Meditation, 10.15–10.30am
- Wednesday: Pilates, 12.15–1pm.
