Need to drive to campus? Don’t go home with a parking fine!
Trimester 2 is nearly here! Travelling to campus by public or active transport is a great way to start the day – but if you think you’ll need to drive to uni, make sure you know how to pay for parking ahead of time so you don’t end up with a parking fine.
Where to park on campus
All of our campuses provide multiple parking options, including accessible parking. Check out our campus maps for specific parking locations. No parking is permitted in any orange bays.
Free parking
- There are limited free carparks at Waurn Ponds in Car Park 3 (the signed blue bays are part of our Park and Go facilities). Park here and ride the intercampus bus to the Waterfront for free!
- Parking at Warrnambool is free in the white general parking bays.
Permit parking
All other car parking requires a paid permit between 8.30 am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday. Parking permits are not required for motorcycles, scooters or bicycles.
Burwood and Waurn Ponds offer a range of parking permits and payment options. Different permits apply in different areas, so please follow the signs:
- Short-term parking permit: buy on a casual (hourly: $1.60; capped at $6.40 per day) basis via CellOPark (a ‘pay-as-you-go’ app). You’ll need to create an account before you can park. There are also permit machines at Burwood and Waurn Ponds.
- Long-term parking permit: available at Burwood and Waurn Ponds only. You can buy your vPermit online and choose between a 120-day general permit ($162.50/$1.35 per day) or a 365-day general permit ($365/$1 per day).
Remember that holding a parking permit does not guarantee you a car park on campus.
New temporary car park at Waterfront Campus
If you’re studying at Waterfront Campus this trimester, remember that the old Car Park 3 is now closed and spots in Car Park 2 are extremely limited. But we’re happy to announce that a new temporary car park is now open for you to use.
This new car park – now listed as Car Park 3 – is located on the corner of Cavendish and Smythe streets. There are 75 general (white) parking spaces and four accessible parking spaces available now (this will increase to 105 in the coming weeks, when access will also be available from Brougham St). See map below (just click on the image to enlarge it):
You’ll need a general short-term parking permit (see above). Once you’ve parked, it’s a short 100 metre walk to the Deakin Cube and main entrance.
Work is continuing on the new multideck carpark at Waterfront Campus, which will provide permanent replacement parking by Trimester 1, 2024.
Save on parking this trimester!
