How it works
The New Colombo Plan is an Australian Government initiative that aims to lift knowledge of the Indo–Pacific region by supporting Australian undergraduates to live, study and intern in the region.
Each scholarship is worth up to $70,000 and provides you with endless educational, professional and personal development opportunities across 40 Indo–Pacific countries. Since 2017, 32 Deakin students have been awarded a scholarship – in 2024, this could be you!
How to apply
To be in the running for a NCP Scholarship, you must meet the eligibility criteria and be nominated by Deakin. We encourage you to attend an information session, where you’ll learn more about how the scholarship works, how to apply and timelines, and be able to ask any questions you have.

Meet our 2023 scholars!
The 2023 round of NCP scholarships will see 150 students travel to the Indo-Pacific, including seven First Nations scholars, 21 students living with disability and 60 students from remote and regional areas.
In a Deakin record, 10 of our high-achieving students were selected as 2023 scholars, from courses including commerce and law, arts, international studies, environmental science, nutrition and biomedical sciences. They’ll travel to Fiji, Japan, India, Malaysia, Korea, Brunei, Taiwan, Bhutan and Singapore.
