Be seen on YOUR terms: Deakin celebrates Trans Day of Visibility
Today, Friday 31 March, is Trans Day of Visibility (TDOV). This annual international celebration of trans pride and awareness recognises trans and gender-diverse experiences, identity, achievements and community. It’s about reclaiming space and being visible.
Many gender-diverse people feel isolated or underrepresented in the community. This can make it difficult for them to feel proud of their identity.
Deakin is committed to, and stands in solidarity with, the transgender community, and all members of the LGBTIQA+ community – today and every day.
We have made a deep commitment to inclusion and diversity – it is central to our organisational values. We support and welcome people from the LGBTQIA+ community and are proud to work together with students and staff to create an open and accepting experience for everyone, both on and off campus.
— Vice-Chancellor Professor Iain Martin
