Elite-athlete student Ellyse Perry celebrates Australia’s T20 World Cup win

Congratulations to elite-athlete student Ellyse Perry for her incredible victory in the women’s T20 World Cup final in Cape Town over the weekend!

Ellyse PerryCurrently a student at Deakin, talented all-rounder Ellyse and the Australian team claimed the championship against South Africa by 19 runs before a huge crowd at Newlands Cricket Ground on Sunday (AEDT time).

The title marks the sixth time the Australian women’s team have been crowned T20 World Cup champions – a momentous win and testament to the team’s ability to keep their collective cool, especially in the face of heightened emotions and blaring opposition from the stands at Newlands.

‘Amazing game,’ said Ellyse, reflecting on their win.

‘Huge thank you to the crowd for creating such an incredible atmosphere. I know it didn’t quite go the way they were hoping. But just to have the opportunity stand and be a part of this … I knew it would be a great day.’

Well done, Ellyse!
