Got any questions about online study? Have them answered by a Success Coach
As a new student studying online at Deakin, you’ll be assigned a Success Coach when you begin this study period.
Your Success Coach is your very own mentor who will help you to get the most out of your time at Deakin. They are a student from your faculty who will introduce you to studying online.
‘Students face a range of challenges when they commence online study,’ says Mikala Todd who has previously worked as a Success Coach. ‘The most common first piece of advice I share with the students I have the pleasure of coaching is to learn by doing. Take the time to explore DeakinSync and the unit sites without placing any pressure on yourself.’
Former Success Coach Larissa Wright adds the following advice for new students: ‘This is important: Ask questions! Ask your teaching staff, ask Student Central, ask your Success Coach, but always ask. Never sit in silent confusion when you don’t have to!’
To help get you started on your uni journey, join our upcoming orientation session to meet and talk with some of our Success Coaches as well as other students. You’ll be able to ask them any questions you may have and hear about their experiences with online study, including their tips on topics such as staying motivated, work/study/life balance, connecting with peers, and time management.
