Your T1/2023 timetable questions answered
Trimester 1 (T1) is getting close! Whether you’re online or on campus, you’ll study flexibly via our premium digital learning environment, supported by our inclusive and accessible services. We tailor your learning experiences to your discipline and study mode.
If you study on-campus units, you’ll have an integrated learning experience, with online self-paced activities complemented by seminars and hands-on learning at our vibrant campuses. If you study 100 percent online, you’ll have digital classes and seminars, and interactive learning experiences.
However you choose to study, you’ll learn from inspiring teaching teams and researchers alongside your peers in an immersive and collaborative environment.
To help you plan, here’s all you need to know about timetables in T1 – who needs one, how to create your timetable and important dates.
Do I need a timetable?
If you’re enrolled in on-campus units, you need a timetable. You create your timetable through an online system called STAR (Student Timetable Allocation and Registration).
If you’re enrolled in online units (shown in StudentConnect delivery mode as ‘Online’), your timetable is not in STAR. Information on planned activities for some online units is available in our Online unit timetable, and all your online unit information will be available on your CloudDeakin unit site one week before the start of trimester.
If you’re enrolled in both online and on-campus units, you only need a STAR timetable for your on‑campus units.
How do I plan my timetable?
We encourage you to plan ahead by looking at the provisional timetable. This gives a sneak peek into when classes, seminars and other learning experiences are scheduled, and will help you to see what options may suit you best.
When do I create my timetable?
You can enter your preferences in STAR at any time from 10am, Monday 6 February to 10am, Wednesday 15 February.
This gives you nine days to consider your options and enter your preferences. It doesn’t matter when you enter your preferences during this period – the activities will be allocated for everyone after the preference entry period ends. So take enough time to think about what will work best for you in T1.
How do I enter my preferences?
Check out the STAR webpage and instructional video for some easy-to-follow directions. Remember that:
- Your timetable may have a mixture of on-campus and online activities.
- If you’re able to come to campus, you should select an on-campus option for that activity.
- If you see building and room information in the location column, the activity is on campus.
- If you see ‘Online’ in the location column, the activity is online.
Where can I get help?
- You can find other important STAR dates and information on the STAR webpage.
- Contact Student Central if you have any queries.
