Elite-athlete student Jakara Anthony wins gold in the World Cup moguls in Finland

Congratulations to elite-athlete student and Winter Olympian Jakara Anthony for her spectacular gold medal victory in the World Cup moguls event in Ruka, Finland over the weekend!

Olympic skier Jakara AnthonyCurrently a Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science student at Deakin, freestyle skier Jakara managed to claim the first event of the new season with a clear lead of 81.69 ahead of France’s Perrine Laffont and Japan’s Anri Kawamura.

This was Jakara’s first win on the prestigious Finnish course and marks her fifth World Cup win, and we can’t wait to see what she does this season following such a promising start!

‘To kick off the season with the win and the yellow bib is pretty massive,’ she said after taking the top spot.

‘You come into the first event and you don’t know what everyone’s been doing since last season, so it’s exciting to come out and see what everyone can do and show off what you’re capable of.’

Jakara has been steadily building her reputation as one of the best female mogul skiers in the world, and claimed Australia’s first gold medal at the Beijing Winter Olympics in February – Australia’s sixth gold medal in Winter Olympics history.
