The new trimester is upon us and the weather is turning balmy – there’s no better time to establish some healthy habits as we welcome in summer and a new study routine!

Support men’s health during Movember
This year, more than ever, we need your help to raise awareness of men’s health issues, including mental health and suicide prevention, and prostate and testicular cancer. DeakinACTIVE is committed to helping the men in our lives enjoy happier, healthier and longer lives.
So, grow a mo, join our challenges via the DeakinMOVES app or donate on our Movember fundraising page (full terms and conditions available via the links). There’s two great challenges to choose from this month:
- Movember MOVES: Everyone who tallies 20k MOVES over the month of November goes in the running to win a free one-month membership.
- Movember 60km Challenge: Everyone who walks/runs 60km during November goes in the running to win one (of three) free two-week memberships.
Boost your fitness for summer
Could you perhaps use an extra incentive to reach your fitness goals as we head into the warmer months? Try DeakinACTIVE’s Summer Shred campaign! Keen to make new friends as you stay active? Trimester 3 social sport competitions start from 7 November at both Burwood and Waurn Ponds with a variety of competitions:
- Mixed Netball
- Mixed Volleyball
- 3×3 Hustle Basketball
- Mixed Badminton.

DeakinACTIVE encompasses your on-campus gym and fitness facilities – and we’re here to help you reach your health and fitness goals.

A DeakinACTIVE membership will get you moving towards a stronger body and mind, help you de-stress from your studies and also get you having fun! Work out in the gym, attend a group fitness class, book in a health consult or you might even want to try some personal training sessions for more accountability.
We can offer you discounted student membership fees, no lock-in contract and, if you sign up during OWeek or Week 1, we’ll also waive the usual joining fee! You can join in person at the gym or join online.
Try our Safe Space
Every Wednesday morning from 7–10am, DeakinACTIVE provides a Safe Space inside our facilities that is welcoming and accessible to all. Whether you’re neurodivergent, from the queer community or have some mental or physical disabilities, come and train with us at no cost and with no obligations.

If you’re studying online or just need some time to decompress after a study session, take advantage of our free online wellbeing classes that are available throughout T3!
