International students, discover your campus and enjoy some local food at these tasty events!

It’s spring – yay! – and we’re celebrating with fresh produce and delicious food! What better way to make some new friends and feel at home at Deakin than to have some food-focused fun with other international students?

Here’s what’s happening on your campus during September. While you’re out and about, you can also choose to take a campus tour if you haven’t been to our beautiful Waurn Ponds or Burwood precincts before.

Geelong students

Develop your cooking skills and expand your meal options with this masterclass from Adam Draper, Head Chef at Waurn Ponds Estate conference venue.

Adam will whip up a simple and versatile veggie stir-fry dish that you can recreate and adapt at home with your favourite ingredients. He’ll also teach you some chopping tips and tricks that will have you feeling like a masterchef in no time!

You’ll then tour the kitchen and beautiful garden, before you sit down and enjoy a tasty light lunch – a great chance to get to know some other international students.

When: Wednesday 21 September, 12–2pm
Register now.

Burwood students

Don’t miss this great opportunity to make new friends, have some interesting chats and experience delicious local cuisine.

You’ll take a tour of the Deakin Community Garden, an amazing area where students get to learn about, nurture and harvest the seasonal produce grown in these beautiful gardens.

You’ll then watch a cooking demonstration from some nutrition students before you enjoy a tasty light lunch.

When: Wednesday 28 September, 10am – 12pm

Spots are limited on both campuses, so register now to secure your place. We’d love to see you there!
