Get paid to help deliver student programs and services!
Would you like to be on the front line of delivering awesome Orientation, social, health and wellbeing, and graduation events for other Deakin students – and get paid at the same time?
Have we got the role for you! Student Services Ambassadors help the Student Services team to ensure that all Deakin students have a great experience at uni – from the start of their journey during Orientation to the culmination of it all – graduation!
In these roles, you’ll provide logistical and administrative support for events and programs, engage with your peers, and build your leadership and communication skills – all while sharing your knowledge of Deakin with other students.
How it works
Student Services Ambassadors will work with the Student Services team using a ‘Students as Partners’ approach. The role will include paid casual work (at a HEW 1 level) and non-paid partnership opportunities:
- Paid activities will include any designated work shifts with rostered hours.
- Non-paid partnership activities will seek your input into the design, development and evaluation of an initiative or program.
We encourage our ambassadors to take advantage of all these opportunities, but non-paid partnership activities are entirely voluntary. For these activities, you’ll also benefit through a Rewards and Recognition program that will provide exclusive professional development opportunities.
You’ll need to commit to a minimum 12-month term, with ambassador roles available at all our campuses. Casual work opportunities will fluctuate and will peak during the University’s key intake periods. Occasionally, you may need to work during evening or weekend events.
Who’s eligible
You’re a current Deakin student who will be continuing with your studies until at least August 2023. You’ll be enthusiastic, approachable, motivated and reliable, with strong communication and interpersonal skills. You’ll have good knowledge of Deakin’s campuses and services.
A current Working with Children Check is essential.
