A quick ‘legal health check’ could save you money and stress – here’s what to do

We all know how important it is to stay physically healthy by eating well, exercising regularly and getting enough sleep. But how much effort do you put into maintaining your ‘legal health’?

Life can sometimes throw up curveballs that cause stress and worry – often through no fault of your own. For example:

These kinds of issues can really start to weigh you down but they’re often hard to address on your own. Understanding your rights and knowing where to go for help can relieve the emotional burden and save you lots of time, money and stress.

That’s why we encourage you to do this quick legal health check – it will only take a few minutes by simply ticking ‘yes’ or ‘no’ (and it’s also a perfect excuse to grab a coffee!).

If you tick YES to one or more of the questions, don’t worry – help is here!

Who can help me?

The Deakin Student Legal Service (DSLS) provides free, independent and confidential legal advice, migration advice, information and referrals to all Deakin students. Legal advice is provided by qualified lawyers and migration agents.

The service is a partnership between DUSA, the Eastern Community Legal Centre (ECLC) and the Barwon Community Legal Service (BCLS).

Even if you’re not sure if your problem is a legal one, we encourage you to get in touch and they can point you in the right direction.
