Are you studying from overseas and keen to feel a part of Deakin? This program is for you!
Our international students are such an important part of the Deakin family, but if you’re currently based overseas we know it’s not always easy to feel connected to your university community.
Studying online has many advantages but there’s more to uni than just getting a degree – it’s also a time to meet new friends, expand your horizons, learn who you are and grow as a person.
That’s where our fabulous new program can help! We’ve designed a range of free online activities so you can connect with other students in meaningful ways, share your culture and focus on your health and wellbeing.
There’s something for everyone during Trimester 2 – from country-specific wellbeing support to career networking opportunities. Highlights include:
- Pass the dinner plate – share your food and stories in an inclusive community space
When: Thursday 28 July, 9–10pm AEST
Register by Friday 22 July - Professional photo and free lunch – build your professional brand with a free LinkedIn profile photo and enjoy a complimentary lunch
When: Saturday 6 August, 12.30–2.30pm AEST
Register by Wednesday 27 July - My Deakin journey: from student to successful career – get career advice and professional insights from Deakin graduates who’ve also travelled the international student journey
When: Wednesday 14 September, 9–10pm AEST
Register by Wednesday 7 September.
We encourage you to get involved in as many events as you can, so view the full program and make sure to register.
Remember: a positive mindset will help you to succeed at your studies but will also ensure that you enjoy your university experience – and that’s just as important!
If you’re studying in China, you can also take advantage of our Summer Program, which is a series of virtual seminars throughout July and August hosted by Deakin academics, industry professionals and alumni. Topics include Australian culture, design thinking, employability and Australia–China business opportunities. View the full program.
This assistance has been made possible by funding from the Victorian Government through the Study Melbourne International Education Resilience Fund.
