Construction alert: upgrades to Union Green during May and June
The stormwater infrastructure under Union Green, at our Geelong Waurn Ponds Campus, is being upgraded and replaced. Work will begin on Monday 23 May and should be complete by the end of June.
This project will improve and replace ageing and damaged equipment in the Union Green area. The new equipment will help to reduce pollution in catchment areas and minimise our overall ecological footprint within the stormwater treatment process.
During this time, the entire grassed area of Union Green will be blocked off by temporary fencing, and works will involve heavy machinery, excavation and construction noise. All turf and irrigation will be reinstated, and no surrounding trees will be affected.
The below map shows the work site (click on the image for a full-size version):
Footpaths and neighbouring buildings will always remain accessible; however, there will be intermittent noise impacts. Please keep this in mind if you’re in the surrounding area.
