Take our survey on smoking and vaping, and you could win $100!

Do you smoke or vape? Have you previously smoked but decided to quit? Perhaps you’ve heard of vaping or have seen other people doing it and are wondering what’s involved. No matter your experiences, smoking can affect everyone in various ways and we’re interested in learning more about current attitudes and habits.

We all know that smoking can cause a range of health and wellbeing problems. Tobacco consumption is connected to serious health conditions like strokes, cancer and diabetes – but it can also make your skin age prematurely and affect your reproductive health.

Vaping – inhaling vapour using an e-cigarette – is a relatively new practice and many people think it’s safer than smoking. While the long-term health implications aren’t yet fully known, vaping can still put nicotine or other chemicals in your body, is addictive and can cause serious lung damage. Read these busted myths about vaping.

There’s some strong vaping laws in Victoria – it’s illegal to:

There’s also strong behavioural links between vaping and smoking – for example, research shows that people who use e-cigarettes are three times more likely to smoke tobacco, and former smokers who vape are more likely to relapse.

Share your thoughts and you could win!

Vaping is becoming more common among young people – many of whom are trying it out of curiosity. Our online survey asks you a few questions about your attitudes to, and experiences of, smoking and vaping, including how the coronavirus pandemic may have affected your habits. We’re equally keen to hear from smokers and non-smokers.

The results will help us to develop effective policies that work to make our University community as safe and healthy as possible.

Take the survey now. It’s open until 11.59pm, Sunday 22 May and it should only take about five minutes to complete. To say thanks for your time and feedback, anyone who completes the survey will go into the draw to win a $100 e-gift card! Read the terms and conditions below.
