International students: if you’re struggling financially, we can offer short-term help
We know that it’s not always easy to manage your finances while you study. Perhaps you’re in between jobs, moving into a new house or struggling to pay your bills.
Financial challenges can be even greater for international students – but we’re here to help.
The International financial assistance scheme provides one-off financial aid of up to $500 or other non-financial support options. This can be used for things like help with rent, bills or groceries; extensions for tuition fees; or support accessing technology or textbooks.
Who’s eligible and how to apply
To access this support, you must be:
- an international student living in Victoria
- actively enrolled in an award course, non-award studies or with DUELI
- experiencing unexpected or short-term financial hardship
- able to explain how your financial hardship is affecting your studies
- able to provide supporting documentation – like overdue bills, bank account statements, payslips and evidence of residency – to confirm your hardship.
You can only receive assistance through this scheme once. Find out more about the International financial assistance scheme and apply online.
This assistance has been made possible by funding from the Victorian Government through the Study Melbourne International Education Resilience Fund.
