Congratulations to the Deakin Melbourne Boomers on claiming the 2021/22 WNBL Grand Final!
Following their nail-biting one-point victory against the Perth Lynx in Game 2 of the best-of-three championship series, the Boomers once again faced the formidable Lynx on Saturday in Melbourne, defeating their opponents 88-64 to claim their first championship in ten years!
It has been an exceptional season for the Boomers, including Deakin elite-athlete students Ezi Magbegor and Lily Scanlon. Seasoned Boomer and Olympian Ezi took out the 2021/22 WNBL Betty Watson Australian Youth Player of the Year award prior to the finals series, while Lily has had the honour of capping off her debut season with a premiership crown.
