Further your Health degree with a virtual internship at a Fijian social action organisation

Health students, here’s an amazing opportunity to gain course credit, tick off some real-world work experience and enhance your professional skills – all from the comfort of home!

Working remotely with a Fijian organisation, you’ll complete a social action project that tackles real problems in the South Pacific and contributes to the Fiji National Development Plan and UN Sustainable Development Goals. At the same time, you’ll learn about the fascinating Fijian culture and develop your global citizenship skills.

What’s on offer

Internships run for four to six weeks throughout Trimester 1 and must conclude by Friday 17 June.

Your internship will be hosted by one of the many Think Pacific program partners, offering real action and social impact. Examples of host organisations include:

Who’s eligible

Any student enrolled in an undergraduate Faculty of Health course can apply for this program. You must also have a minimum WAM of 50.

The preferred Work Integrated Learning (WIL) units for this program are HSH303 Health Practicum or HPS328 Psychology at Work (Internship). Before you apply, make sure you check your eligibility with a Deakin Student Adviser.

If you’re a domestic undergrad student, you may also be eligible for New Colombo Plan (NCP) funding that covers the entire cost of the program! If you’re not eligible for NCP funding, you may still be able to apply for a 20 percent bursary to help with program fees.

All grants will be awarded on a first-in-best-dressed basis – in conjunction with WAM, course of study and application materials.
