Do you want to get paid to help new students make a great start at Deakin? Would you like to engage with your peers and support their health and wellbeing at university? Are you enthusiastic, approachable, motivated and reliable?

Orientation Ambassadors at Burwood

We are currently seeking Orientation Ambassadors to assist new students commencing at Deakin in Trimester 1, 2022.

The Orientation Ambassador Program is an orientation peer mentor program that aims to help new students make a successful start at Deakin. The program provides social and practical on-campus support for new students during Orientation. 

As a participant in the program, you’ll receive professional development, training and on-the-job experience that you can put on your resume. You’ll be making a real difference for new students, and you’re guaranteed to make new friends. You’ll also receive a Certificate of Recognition for your work.

This is a paid casual employment opportunity open to all continuing Deakin students. All successful applicants must attend compulsory training and have a valid employee Working with Children Check.

Join the Wellbeing Ambassador Program

Wellbeing Ambassadors at a Mind Matters event

We’re now looking for several Wellbeing Ambassadors to commence in Trimester 1, 2022. 

As a Wellbeing Ambassador, you will help to promote Deakin’s health and wellbeing programs and services to students as well as plan, design and deliver new health promotion activities at Deakin. You’ll take part in related events and be a friendly and approachable advocate for Deakin’s messaging around student wellbeing, encompassing mental wellbeing, physical health, healthy eating and sexual health. 

If you join the program, you’ll benefit from receiving professional development, training and on-the-job experience that you can put on your resume. You’ll be making a real difference to the lives of your university peers and you’re guaranteed to make new friends. 

The Wellbeing Ambassador role is a paid casual position for a minimum of 12 months. To apply, you must be a current Deakin student, having completed a minimum of eight units of study (with at least a credit average) and with a minimum of two trimesters still left to complete. You will also need to undergo an employee Working with Children Check and demonstrate an interest in health promotion, prevention and public health.
