Food, art and conversation: all you need to settle into uni this T3!

What do art, pasta, ice cream and a good chat all have in common?

They’re the focus of some awesome events we’re holding to help you make a great start to Trimester 3 (T3) and reconnect after some very challenging months.

Run by the Faculty of Science, Engineering and the Built Environment (SEBE) Peer Support Network Program – but open to all Deakin students – these free online events are a great way to make some friends and balance your studies with some inspiring and delicious new skills.

So if you’re interested in getting creative with art and food (surely we had you at ‘ice cream’?) and developing your uni networks, join us for one or all of these events!

How to bump up your grades

With assignment deadlines looming, are you feeling confused or unsure where to start? Our wonderful SEBE Peer Mentors will share their experiences and advice on things like how to understand an assessment task, making the most of resources and where to get help.

When: Thursday 11 November, 5.30–6.30pm
Register now

Life’s better with ice cream

Who doesn’t love good ice-cream? And wouldn’t it be fabulous if you could make your own?

Himanshi from Foodie Trails will show you how to make ice cream three different ways – traditional, gelati and sorbet. No ingredients needed!

When: Thursday 18 November, 5.30–7pm
Register now

Finding your inner artist

Creative Canvases is an intuitive art class that’s different to your typical demonstration-based art class where everyone recreates the same image.

Facilitator and artist Jacklyn integrates mindfulness and meditation into the class as she guides you through two different stages of creating. Your piece will be guided by your own creativity, with no two works looking the same.

Paints are ideal, but not essential – you can use any materials, including pencils, textas and crayons.

When: Thursday 25 November, 5.30–7pm
Register now

Pasta perfection

Pasta-making expert Marina will demonstrate how to create perfect pasta (including for vegans and vegetarians) and will answer questions throughout the session.

Grab the ingredients beforehand (we’ll send a recipe and prep list when you register) or just kick back and take in some tips as you watch a great demo.

When: Thursday 2 December, 5.30–6.30pm
Register now.

See you online and good luck for T3!
