Further easing of restrictions allow regional Victoria to move towards COVID-Normal
Regional restrictions will again ease as of 11.59pm tonight, Thursday 17 June, allowing our communities to reconnect, and our on-campus activity to recommence a move towards the COVID-Normal blended operations we enjoyed prior to the lockdown.
What you need to know
- Travel to metropolitan Melbourne has reopened. (Note: there are rules if you’re heading to an alpine resort).
- Masks are still required indoors and are recommended outdoors where 1.5m physical distancing cannot be maintained.
- If you can study from home, you should continue to study from home.
- You can now have five visitors per day to your home, plus dependents.
- Public gatherings have increased to 50 people.
- Hospitality venues can serve more patrons with seated service.
If you do need to attend campus, you must:
- Carry a mask at all times, wear your mask indoors, and wear it outdoors where 1.5 metres of physical distancing cannot be maintained.
- Adhere to all COVIDSafe practices, including check-in via the COVIDSafe QR codes.
- Self-check and stay home if you’re unwell – use the Symptom Checker testing and quarantine guidance.
- Complete Deakin’s COVIDSafe module before attending a campus for the first time.
- Maintain good hand hygiene and use the hand sanitiser available.
What this means for your study
Exams or supplementary exams, will continue as planned, including for those students with scheduled on-campus exams.
Approved student health and medical placements will continue where partner institutions remain open, and communication will be managed directly by your teaching area.
Students with scheduled work-integrated learning will be contacted through your unit site or by a Work Integrated Learning Coordinator if there are any changes.
Trimester 2/Semester 2 learning
We are optimistic T2/S2 teaching and learning will proceed as planned. Read more about what your T2/S2 learning experience will be, subject to government restrictions. The STAR timetable will open for preference entry mode in STAR at 10am on Monday 21 June.
