Further easing of regional Victoria restrictions – but continue to study from home if you can
Regional restrictions will again ease as of 11:59pm tonight, Thursday 10 June, with the potential for further easing of restrictions next week, subject to the continued decrease in community risk from the current outbreak.
What you need to know
- Travel to Metropolitan Melbourne remains restricted.
- You must always carry a mask, and masks are still required indoors and outdoors where 1.5m physical distancing cannot be maintained.
- You can now have two visitors per day to your home.
- Public gatherings are permitted for up to 20 people.
- If you feel unwell with any COVID-19 symptoms, you must get tested.

If you do need to attend campus, you must:
- Masks must be carried at all times, worn indoors, and worn outdoors where 1.5 metres of physical distancing cannot be maintained.
- Adhere to all COVIDSafe practices, including check-in via the COVIDSafe QR codes.
- Self-check and stay home if you’re unwell – use the Symptom Checker testing and quarantine guidance.
- Complete Deakin’s COVIDSafe module before attending a campus for the first time.
- Maintain good hand hygiene and use the hand sanitiser available.
How this applies to the Burwood campus and your learning
- Some on-campus services will be available; however, limitations apply:
- Student Central will open from Monday 14 June.
- Burwood Library will be open from Friday 11 June for students and staff with capacity restrictions apply.
- Deakin Learning Centres will be open from Monday 14 June; capacity restrictions apply.
- Deakin Medical Centres remain open for free and confidential face-to-face or telehealth consultations. By appointment only – book online or by phone.
- DeakinACTIVE Waurn Ponds and Warrnambool is open with density limits.
- DUSA Bookshop open from Tuesday 15 June.
- Limited café services are operating.
What this means for your study
All exams scheduled continue as planned, including those students with scheduled on-campus exams.
Approved student health and medical placements will continue where partner institutions remain open, and communication will be managed directly by your teaching area.
Students with scheduled work-integrated learning will be contacted through your unit site or by a Work Integrated Learning Coordinator.
Trimester 2/Semester 2 learning
T2/S2 teaching and learning planning is continuing. Read more about what your T2/S2 learning experience will be, subject to government restrictions. The provisional timetable will be available on Monday 14 June and open for preference entry mode in STAR at 10am on Monday 21 June.

Rest assured that help is still available during this time – you can continue to access a range of Deakin support services online:
- Student Central: If you have a question about your enrolment or course, finances or other issues, contact Student Central by phone or submit an online enquiry or visit a Student Central Hub from Monday 14 June.
- Deakin Library: Geelong and Warrnambool libraries are open. You can also contact the library via Library Chat, email or phone. Please note there are reduced hours (8am-9pm 7 days Geelong libraries and Warrnambool library is open 8am-8pm Mon-Fri and 11am – 5pm weekends), and capacity restrictions apply. Access is restricted to students and staff, so please carry your Deakin ID card when attending.
- Study Support: Access a range of academic and study support online, including help from Language and Learning Advisers, Writing and Maths Mentors, and Smarthinking.
- IT Help: For any issues with CloudDeakin tools and other technologies, access IT Help online or over the phone, Monday to Friday, 8am–8pm, and weekends, 11am–5pm.
- Deakin Medical Centres: Remain open for free and confidential face-to-face or telehealth consultations. By appointment only – book online or by phone.
- Counselling and Psychological Support (CAPS): Telehealth appointments only. Students located in Australia can talk to one of our highly skilled social workers and psychologists – book online or by phone.
- Safer Community: If you feel unsafe or need to report sexual harm or family violence, contact the Safer Community team online, by phone or by email.
- Disability Resource Centre (DRC): The DRC is available Monday to Friday, 9am–4pm via phone or email.
- Multifaith Chaplains: Contact your preferred Multifaith Chaplain via phone or email for a confidential chat.
