It’s been so great to welcome students back to Deakin campuses. We’re loving the vibe!
To celebrate being back on campus and making the most of everything on offer at Deakin, we’re inviting you to share a shot of your favourite campus spot for your chance to win! This could be anything from an outdoor space or study spot to a particular lecture theatre or eatery. If anyone can find the best spots on our campuses, it’s you!
There’s five $20 Deakin Card prizes up for grabs for you to spend at any café, vending machine or bookshop on campus.
What’s your favourite spot?
Maybe you have a favourite study nook where you can truly focus on tackling assignments, or you’re a loyal patron at a café that does coffee just how you like it, or perhaps there’s a leafy outdoor spot where you go to relax and recharge between classes – we want to hear about YOUR favourite spot and why it’s so special to you.
To enter, make sure you’re following @DeakinLife on Instagram, and post your photo submission along with the hashtag #MyDeakinSpot. We’d also love you share the story behind the photo and tell us why this spot is so special to you. You can also direct message the Deakin Life Instagram account with your submission.
The competition will run until Friday 30 April, 2021. Winners will be announced by Thursday 6 May, 2021.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The promoter of this competition is Deakin University ABN 56 721 584 203 of 1 Gheringhap Street, Geelong VIC 3220
- Information on how to enter forms part of these Terms and Conditions. By entering, entrants agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions and entries must comply with these Terms and Conditions to be valid.
- This competition is governed by the laws in force in the State of Victoria, Australia.
The Competition
- The competition is free to enter and is open to current Deakin students from all Deakin campuses.
- The competition is taking place via the Deakin Life Instagram account.
- Staff employed by Deakin University and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter the competition.
Competition period
- The competition period for all campuses is from Wednesday 21 to Friday 30 April, 2021.
Prizes
- There will be a prize pool of 5 x $20 uploads to the winners’ Deakin Cards. The total value of the prize pool is $100.
How to enter
- To enter, Entrants may post an original image of their ‘favourite’ spot on a Deakin campus, tagging the Deakin Life Instagram and using the hashtag #MyDeakinSpot to enter. Entrants may also send their submission by direct message to the Deakin Life Instagram account. Entrants may submit multiple entries, but only one prize is available per entrant.
Selection and notification of winner
- Winners will be selected from the submissions and announced by 6 May 2021.
- Winners will be notified by Instagram and asked for their student details, and a confirmation email will be sent to their Deakin student email address with details of their prize. Photo submissions will be posted to the Deakin Life Instagram and Deakin Life blog by 12 May 2021.
- Prize money will be applied to students’ Deakin Card within 1 week of competition winner announcement.
- If the winner does not respond to claim the prize within 7 days of contact from Deakin University, the winner forfeits the prize and another entry will be chosen. This process may continue until the prize is awarded.
- Prizes are not transferable and are not redeemable for cash. Deakin’s decision is final and binding – no correspondence will be entered into. Deakin accepts no responsibility for late, lost or misdirected entries or other communications. Entries will be deemed void if forged, manipulated or tampered with in any way.
- Entrants consent to Deakin using their submission, name, image or voice for promotional purposes. Entrants agree to make themselves available for a photograph and interview in the event that theirs is the winning entry and if requested by Deakin.
- Winners consent to their name and photograph being published on Deakin University social media and other digital channels if requested to in any and all forms as determined by the Division of Student Life.
Privacy collection, use and disclosure statement
Personal Information provided to Deakin University by entrants will be used to notify the winner of the competition.
Deakin University complies with the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic) in its treatment of personal information. Entrants have a right to access their personal information held by the University. Requests for access to personal information are managed under the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic).
