T1, 2021: Create your T1 timetable by Wednesday 24 February
It’s timetable time! STAR (Student Timetable Allocation and Registration) is now open for Trimester 1 (T1) preference entry.
But there’s no need to rush – STAR doesn’t allocate any choices until the preference entry period closes at 10am, Wednesday 24 February. So whether you enter your preferences early or at the last minute, you have an equal chance of getting your preferred timetable.
For T1, our COVID-Normal teaching and learning model will combine the benefits of online and on‑campus modes where possible:
- Most classes (lectures) will remain online.
- We’ll deliver as many practical experiences on campus as possible, with a COVIDSafe plan in place and subject to government and University guidelines.
- Some practicals and other activities will be available when STAR opens, while others may be added as physical distancing requirements change. If other learning experiences are added, additional timetabling information will be provided to you.
Do I need to create a T1 timetable?
- If you’re normally an on-campus student – you still need to create a STAR student timetable.
- If you’re studying any online units (shown in StudentConnect delivery mode as Cloud Online) – you do not have to create a timetable in STAR for these units. Your unit information will be available on your unit site on CloudDeakin one week before the start of trimester.
How do I create my timetable?
- You have nine days to consider your options. When you’re ready, enter your preferences online. Visit the STAR webpage and watch the preference entry video for easy-to-follow instructions.
- At 10am on Wednesday 24 February, the STAR preference entry period closes so that all student timetables can be created.
- From 10am on Thursday 25 February, you can log back into STAR to see your timetable and make adjustments.
What’s different in T1?
COVID-19 restrictions mean that your T1 student timetable will look slightly different:
- Where building and room information is included in the location column, the activity is on campus.
- Where there is a ‘–’ or ‘online’ included in the location column, the activity is online.
- Some activities have a blended delivery, combining both on-campus and online learning.
- Some activities are offered mostly on-campus, with only a few options exclusively online. In these cases, the online activity is for on-campus students located outside Australia and for students who are unable to attend campus. If you’re able to come to campus, you should select an on‑campus option for that activity.
- For on-campus students based outside Australia – if an online option is not available for your activity, please contact your Unit Chair. You can find Unit Chair information in the 2021 University Handbook and contact details in DeakinSync – just search under ‘People’.
What if I need help?
- You can find other important STAR dates and information on the STAR webpage.
- Contact Student Central with any queries.
