Studying nursing or midwifery in 2021? Get your vaccinations on campus!
If you’re studying nursing or midwifery in Trimester 1, it’s mandatory to be vaccinated as part of your course.
But did you know that you can get the full suite of shots done right here on campus at a Deakin Medical Centre? All campus nurses are accredited nurse vaccinators and know the drill for course-related vaccination requirements, which can sometimes be complicated.
Before you can be vaccinated, you’ll need to have an initial appointment with one of our friendly doctors to review your needs and organise blood tests.
When do I need to be vaccinated by?
For Trimester 1, you must be vaccinated by Friday 26 March, so book an appointment now to make sure you meet the deadline.
All School of Nursing and Midwifery students must also have the seasonal flu vaccination each year. We’ll have more information about timing and availability of 2021 flu vaccinations in March, so stay tuned.
How much will it cost?
Your GP consultation and most blood tests will be bulk-billed to Medicare or covered by your Overseas Student Health Cover. You’ll have to pay for commercial blood tests such as the Quantiferon Gold test, but we offer this at a reduced student price. You’ll also need to pay for the vaccines themselves. This price list outlines approximate vaccine costs, but be aware that costs are subject to change, so please discuss this with your nurse before you proceed.
