The Deakin Guide to Referencing receives a significant update
This year will mark the most significant update to the Deakin Guide to Referencing since it was first published online in 2013.
While referencing is an important element of all your assignments, it is much more than just a mere technical requirement of academic writing. The new guide aims to strengthen your understanding of citing sources correctly to help you become an independent learner, which in turn will enable you to:
- effectively acknowledge and share ideas
- become part of an academic learning community
- construct knowledge and succeed in your university studies.
The new guide includes improvements suggested by our team of Writing Mentors – students like you who use the guides, and answer student questions every day.
What’s new in the guide?
New features of the Deakin Guide to Referencing include:
- ‘Referencing Explained’ – an in-depth guide to how and why we reference
- more relevant examples of source types
- major updates to the Harvard, APA and Oxford style guides
- quick PDF guides for Harvard and APA7
- an accessible and more user-friendly and mobile-friendly format
- updates to the FAQs and glossary of terms.
