Living on campus is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the Deakin experience.
COVIDSafe FAQs for Deakin residents – 3 August 2020
Is the accommodation on campus still open?
Deakin Residential Services (DRS) continues to remain operational in each region. We have begun welcoming back residents for the commencement of T2 and from 1 July will start taking applications from Deakin students, regardless of study mode, who feel living on campus will help them feel better connected and supported while they study. To support this, we have reviewed our fees and are thrilled to announce that we have significantly reduced or frozen our fees, providing a truly cost-effective and convenient accommodation option at each of our campuses.
I am an international student?
DRS continues to remain fully operational. Although Deakin will continue to offer mainly online learning in T2, international students are welcome to remain living on campus and continue their studies online.
What is DRS doing to support residents’ wellbeing and engagement during COVID-19?
DRS continues to offer programs to ensure our residents remain happy, healthy and connected to each other and our team (regardless of where you’re based).
Our 2020 Belong, Balance, Broaden wellbeing and engagement framework has been created specifically in response to COVID-19 and is designed to:
- foster a sense of belonging and engagement with our community
- encourage residents to balance mind and body
- help you explore opportunities to broaden your horizons through virtual personal and professional development activities, webinars and workshops.
Will I be guaranteed a spot to return to residences when possible?
All 2020 residents have been given priority to return to residences in T2. We will also offer priority rooms for 2021 once these applications open on 1 July. Please note this is subject to manager approval and residents must continue to adhere to our residential handbook and community values.
