Well done, everyone: you made it! Join our group performance to recognise your efforts
Congratulations on reaching the end of this study period! What a challenging time this has been for us all. It’s time to celebrate! With just a week (or so) to go and final assessments looming, there is a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel. Soon you’ll be able to take a well-deserved break from your studies and reflect on what you have achieved this study period.
Let’s celebrate this milestone, with an iso-approved group performance of a chosen song that you can participate in from home – à la the recent star-studded rendition of Louis Armstrong’s What a Wonderful World – to keep your spirits high as we cross the finish line.
We heard you loud and clear
Last week, we asked you to vote for your preferred song on the [email protected] Facebook group and you answered loud and clear.
And the winner is…
Elton John’s classic ode to resilience, I’m Still Standing. Great choice, people!
We all stand together
Bring your voice and unique style to our group rendition of I’m Still Standing. You could dress up as the Rocketman himself, choreograph some high-energy dance moves or simply sing in front of your laptop. You’re welcome to give an individual performance or sing with your family, housemates or friends (while keeping social distancing in mind).
We do ask that you keep your contributions family-friendly! Any performances that don’t comply with Deakin’s student Code of Conduct and Rights and Responsibilities cannot be included in the final cut.
Want to join the chorus?
Register your interest to take part in Deakin’s cover of I’m Still Standing now! All you need to do is complete and submit the form below by 5pm, Thursday 28 May.
Please note this is not a live event and places are limited. If you register and are chosen to participate, you will be asked to sing a certain part of the song and submit this as a video file to us (we’ll share instructions on how to do this), which will then be collated with other participants’ videos to comprise a complete version of the song.
We can’t wait to share the finished product!
