Your guide to T1/S1 final assessments

If you originally had a venue-based exam scheduled in your unit Trimester 1/Semester 1, these will no longer be taking place due to the social distancing guidelines. Instead, each of your unit sites has been updated with a replacement final assessment or exam replacement task. It is essential you take the time to review this updated information and familiarise yourself with the new exam replacement task and your requirements.

Most exam replacement tasks will be delivered through your CloudDeakin unit site as one of two options:

  • a timed, scheduled online quiz (multiple-choice questions or short-answer)
  • an assignment to be submitted through the Assessment folder in-unit sites, with task instructions/questions released at a designated time.

We’ve put together some tips below on how to prepare for your exam replacement tasks as well as a CloudDeakin FAQ and Help guide. If you have more questions, visit the exam replacement FAQ page.

Check your unit sites

You will find details about your exam replacement tasks in each of your unit sites. It’s very important to check each unit site individually, as each will vary.

Block out your exam times

Start times for exam replacement tasks are listed in the examination timetable released to students on Tuesday 28 April 2020, and are available in StudentConnect. All essential details including time-limits are listed in your unit sites. Make sure you’re familiar with the start times and record these in your diary so you’re prepared.

Also, Deakin’s Academic and Peer and Support services will also be running a Preparing for exams and finals assessment session from 6–7 pm on Tuesday 12 May, via Bb Collaborate, to support students in preparing for final assessments or online exams.

Plan your workload

Managing your time effectively is an important part of studying for your exams. Use our study workload planner to figure out how to fit your study time around the other commitments in your life. Enter all your commitments for the next week into the interactive planner and then see how much time you have left to revise and complete practice exam replacement tasks.

Quiz yourself

Get together with your study group and write practice quizzes for each other. You’ll get as much from researching and writing your quiz as you will from answering your study group’s quizzes. You can use apps like GoConqr to create quizzes or pick something else from Study Support’s set of digital study tools.
