Run by students, for students, DUSA is dedicated to enriching your experience at Deakin, offering parties, sport, trips and tours, short courses, clubs and more!
There’s no doubt that it’s been a tough few months, and we’re all dealing with the challenges of physical distancing and changed routines. One way to feel more in control and take some positives out of this time is to learn new skills and nurture your wellbeing.
That’s where DUSA can help! This May, we’re hosting a series of online workshops to help you develop the right mindset for online study and life in a COVID-19 world!
Emotional intelligence workshop
Understanding how emotion influences our thoughts, decisions, physiology and behaviour is critical to wellbeing and success in our professional and personal lives. This workshop will review the six skills of emotional intelligence – self-awareness, awareness of others, authenticity, emotional reasoning, self-management and positive influence.
When: Wednesday 20 May and Thursday 21 May (you must attend both sessions), 10am–12.30pm
DUSA Gold members: $132
DUSA Silver members: $148.50
DUSA Bronze members: $156.75
Overcoming adversity seminar
This 45-minute seminar will discuss mental health (anxiety and depression), abusive relationships and finding paths to work through difficult situations. Stories and lessons will be told in a compassionate and relatable way, allowing you to engage and feel safe opening up about your own struggles if you wish in the Q&A following the seminar.
When: Wednesday 20 May, 12pm–1pm
Find your joy workshop
A combination of restorative yoga, guided meditation, breath work and self-appreciation exercises, this workshop will engage the parasympathetic nervous system (the rest and restore system) to allow your body to process any build-up of stress. You will feel calm and clear, happy and content.
When: Thursday 21 May, 2.30–4pm
Overcoming life’s obstacles – resilience workshop
This free workshop will help you to better manage the challenges that arise from life on both a personal and professional level. Learn how to enhance your resilience by managing difficult people and situations, keeping focus, enhancing self-organisation and switching off from work and study.
When: Wednesday 27 May, 10am–12pm
DUSA trips, tours and short courses aim to include all students. If you have any access requirements or enquiries, contact email@example.com to discuss your needs.
