Be prepared for Trimester 1 with UniStart
A great way to prepare for the year ahead is to visit Deakin’s UniStart site to learn how to hone your study skills.
UniStart offers on-campus and online sessions to help you build your study skills, and has tools, resources and checklists that you can read at your own convenience. The workshops and resources are suitable for all students who want a refresher on studying at university.
Upcoming UniStart sessions
Here are some of the upcoming UniStart workshops you can join on campus or online.
- Study tips for new students – multiple on-campus and online sessions from Monday 2 March to Friday 6 March
- An introduction to Deakin’s online learning spaces – online on Thursday 5 March, 5–6pm
- From note-taking to writing – online on Tuesday 10 March, 6–7pm
- Writing in your own words – online on Tuesday 17 March, 6–7pm
- Referencing made easy – online on Tuesday 24 March, 6–7pm
- Preparing for exams – online on Tuesday 12 May, 6–7pm
- English for Uni – online on Thursday 5 March, 4–5pm
- Essential academic skills for masters by coursework – online on Friday 13 March

How to watch an online session
At the scheduled time, navigate to UniStart, click on the black UniStart sessions button on the right-hand side and click on Join a UniStart session now. Then find your session in the Blackboard Collaborate platform. There are also recorded versions of the sessions that you can watch at a time that suits you.
