Living on campus is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the Deakin experience.
Deakin’s Geelong residential students outshone Australia’s finest showbiz stars in a recent night of music, stand-up comedy and dance at GPAC’s Drama Theatre.
Held on Sunday 19 May, Res Factor showcased the amazing talents of 12 acts, three from each of the four colleges – Parkes, Alfred Deakin, Barton and Brougham House. Stars of X Factor, eat your heart out!
Almost 200 residents turned out to watch Justin Boxall on drums smashing out some amazing beats, while Sam Waldron did a beautiful original song on guitar. Jack Hogart on acoustic guitar had us awestruck and Jono Nguyen was ‘radioactive’ performing on violin.
Parkes won overall college while Kacee Bromham was the individual winner.
Even the staff got involved, unearthing some hidden talents with an amazing rendition of The Greatest Showman, while residential leaders (RLs) took us on an interpretive dance journey through life on res.
It was a fabulous evening of entertainment, with hours of rehearsal paying off – or, in some cases, college spirit proving a fine substitute! Thanks to everyone who attended.
