University can be challenging, and no one understands students better than students. Experienced Deakin students are trained to help, whether you want academic, practical or social support.
So, you’re new to Deakin. You’re excited, but you’ve also got a lot of questions, especially about your studies.
Enter: peer mentors!
Peer mentors are the ultimate resource for commencing students. They are students, just like you, who are further along in their studies and are equipped to guide you and help you adjust to university life. They are also from your faculty, so they’ll understand the idiosyncrasies of your area of study.
They aren’t tutors, but they can share with you how they’ve achieved success and give you tips and tricks. Most importantly, they are there to help you with all of your questions, no matter how minor you might think they are.
From referencing to navigating DeakinSync, from accessing services to getting around, from assignment submission to finding resources, from time management to getting involved on campus, you name it: they can help you with it. And, it’s a great way to meet new people and make new friends.
