We’re proud of Deakin’s culture and continue to nurture its development as one that values diversity, enables access and promotes inclusion.
Our state is one of the most multicultural communities on the planet. Cultural Diversity Week runs from Saturday 17 March – Sunday 25 March and it’s Victoria’s largest multicultural celebration, featuring an exciting program of festivals and events across metropolitan and regional areas.
We often hear about the importance of being a global citizen. But what does it mean to truly understand and value the perspectives and experiences of others whose journeys have been so different to our own? How do we live together so that there is genuine equality of opportunity for people from all cultural backgrounds?
To help us explore these questions, we invite you to join us at Deakin’s Cultural Diversity Week event, Multiculturalism: Going Deeper. Listen to an inspiring panel of speakers who will share their perspectives on multiculturalism as an idea and as a lived experience. Deakin’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr Kean Selway, will also formally launch Deakin’s Cultural Diversity and Inclusion Plan 2018–2020.

We encourage you to come along and bring your friends and family for a fun day out. Don’t forget to come and say hello to us at the Deakin marquee on the day!
