Facilities Services is responsible for the operational management of Deakin’s existing infrastructure as well as the strategic planning for new building projects.
The Car Park 12 expansion works are almost complete with several new sections now open.
The expansion project has provided an additional two levels of car parks as well as new end-of-trip facilities, including secure bicycle storage and change room facilities with lockers and showers. In total over 1000 car parks are now available at the Elgar Road Precinct for students, staff and visitors.
Included in the new end-of-trip facilities is an Interlock locker system. Accessible by an activated Deakin Card, you’re just a swipe away from secure and unlimited storage. You can activate your Deakin Card for Interlock use at a Student Central Hub (located in Building LB, HE and Y). Installation of the lockers is progressing well and will be completed by Monday 5 March 2018.
Additionally, façade works were undertaken to improve the look of the car park, including installation of an architecturally-designed perforated metal screen to new and existing levels. Wi-Fi and CCTV security cameras have also been installed for your convenience and security.
There are some ongoing works and Level 2 of the carpark will remain closed until Saturday 10 March 2018 to allow installation of an access ramp between Levels 2 and 3. All other levels are now open and accessible via the first westerly car park entrance on Uganda Street.
