Close to 6000 marchers and around 40 000 spectators turned St Kilda’s Fitzroy Street into a colourful sea of rainbow for the annual Midsumma Pride March last weekend.

The sun was shining, spirits were high and the music was pumping, making the day a perfect mix of parade, pride and party.

With its origins in the Stonewall rebellion and speaking to the struggles of LGBTQIA+ peoples everywhere, Midsumma Pride March is a spectacular act of solidarity in a world where many go without rights, dignity and visibility.

Nearly 100 Deakin staff, students and alumni also joined in the festivities and if you didn’t get the chance to come along, we’ve got some snapshots for you below!
