Joshua Shub is a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Laws student, majoring in criminology. ‘I have always been interested in the law and the Australian legal system. Criminology at Deakin allowed me to gain an insight into what drives crime, what prevention options there are, and how crime impacts our life.’
For Joshua, his degree allowed him to explore his passions, choosing to major in film as well as criminology. The highlight of Joshua’s studies was participating in a television production unit, ‘using Deakin’s state-of-the-art television facilities to create our own variety show, which I then presented, was amazingly informative and practical.’
I have made many close friends at Deakin, as well as worked in several different roles- I would seriously say that Deakin is one of the most central aspects of my young adult life.
While studying at Deakin, Joshua has explored many learning opportunities outside of the classroom, gaining valuable real-world experience. ‘I went to the University of South Carolina in the USA for a semester (go Gamecocks!). It’s a totally different style of university life in America – you have to see it to believe it! The sport, the school spirit, the dorms- it all adds up to an incredible experience.’
‘I have also worked as a Student Ambassador for the marketing department, Peer Advisor for the Study Abroad office, and worked as a volunteer at a Legal Aid center. I have made many close friends at Deakin, as well as worked in several different roles – I would seriously say that Deakin is one of the most central aspects of my young adult life,’ Joshua says.
