Research grant success

CRADLE researchers are looking forward to a busy and collaborative 2017-2018 courtesy of 4 newly awarded research grants. As a result we welcome Ms Katie Priestly to the team as our new Research Associate.

Rola Ajjawi and Margaret Bearman are collaborating with project leads from Eastern Victoria General Practice Training on a $150K grant looking at educational feedback within supervisory relationships and the implications for GP registrar and supervisor training. This is funded via the Royal Australian College of General Practice.

Rola is also working on research into failure and success of disadvantaged student groups, as part of a $38K Deakin/University of Wollongong collaboration funded via the National Centre for Student Equity in Higher Education

Margaret Bearman is project lead on a $10K Industry Collaboration Development Grant from Deakin’s Research for Educational Impact (REDI) to work with specialist medical colleges on feedback and its effect in postgraduate medical education training. This will involve the whole CRADLE team of Joanna Tai, Phillip Dawson, David Boud and Rola Ajjawi.

Lastly, Rola, Joanna Tai and David Boud will be working with Deakin PVC Liz Johnson on an ACEN Research Grant of $10K investigating student perceptions of authentic assessment within Work Integrated Learning curricula. Katie Priestly will be working on the ACEN and REDI grants.

Katie has recently completed the Master of Psychology (Clinical Neuropsychology) at The University of Melbourne and is interested in both research and clinical work. Katie has conducted non-clinical research, investigating the effects of rumination on learning and memory in undergraduate students. Her Masters’ thesis explored neurocognitive and mood outcomes in patients being treated with stereotactic radiotherapy for multiple brain metastases/tumours.

Welcome Katie! And congratulations to the team for these successful grants.
