Registrations for the CRADLE Symposium 2021 now open
22 September 2021
Registration is now open for public events for the annual CRADLE Symposium held virtually between October 21-26, 2021. As our largest research event of the year, the CRADLE Symposium provides a unique opportunity to bring researchers together in the fields of higher education assessment, inclusion, and social justice, to share ideas, research, and practice, and problematise the concept of inclusive assessment.
The past year has brought both challenges and opportunities for the education sector. CRADLE researchers are increasingly aware of how assessment can impact inclusion, equity, and access in higher education.
This year’s event aims to take stock of what has already been achieved (both practical and conceptual), identify areas of synergy for collaboration, and develop a research agenda that improves the equity of assessment in higher education.
We are proud to host three exciting public events as pivotal highlights of the symposium program. These include two keynote sessions and a panel event.
Our first online keynote session is from Dr Jan McArthur, Lancaster University, on Thursday 21 October at 5pm AEDT. Dr McArthur will present ‘Creating Synergies between Assessment for Social Justice and Assessment for Inclusion (without false binaries or destructive compromises)’.
Prof. Penny Jane Burke, University of Newcastle, will deliver her keynote entitled, ‘Inclusive Assessment: Recognising Difference through Communities of Praxis’ on Monday 25 October at 10.30am AEDT.
Our two keynote speakers will share their perspectives and spark conversations.
To conclude the symposium, we are excited to convene a panel discussion with researchers on the big questions and ideas in inclusive assessment, featuring Prof. Sarah O’Shea, Dr Jessamy Gleeson, Dr Ben Whitburn, and Prof. Phill Dawson on Tuesday 26 October at 4pm AEDT.
We encourage you to attend one or more of these events. You can register for both the keynote sessions and the panel discussion online via Eventbrite.
