Very few scholars would argue with the need to diversify research and scholarly publishing – diversity and inclusion are almost buzzwords nowadays. The hegemony of scholarly outputs is strikingly northern and patriarchal in terms of authorship and western in terms of epistemology (see Czerniewicz, 2020). What does it take to shift to a more heterogeneous scholarship? Where are the peripheries?
In this seminar, Laura and Sarah will discuss the background, process and outcomes of their recent publishing venture, funded by the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, as an example. They will provide some insights into the social justice thinking that informed the decision to incorporate flexible mentoring for PhD students and ECR writers – and how this opportunity was taken up.
This seminar is part of our online-only series. Join us for a thought-provoking virtual seminar and discussion!
