Meet CRADLE’s three new Visiting Scholars

After a competitive round of applications, we’re pleased to announce this year’s CRADLE Visiting Scholars.

Each of the three successful Visiting Scholars for 2026 will focus on an aspect of feedback – one of CRADLE’s core research themes since its inception – spanning online learning, clinical settings, and GenAI.

Working with CRADLE’s Professor Phillip Dawson and Dr Juuso Nieminen, Kieran will explore how educators can design inclusive and meaningful feedback opportunities in the contemporary digital higher education landscape.

Kwang will pair with CRADLE’s Professor Margaret Bearman to investigate the inner dialogue and emotions of learners after an Objective Structured Clinical Exam (OSCE), and the impacts of these learnings on later clinical practice.

Working with CRADLE’s Dr Thomas Corbin, Joseph will examine interplays between feedback sources (whether a marker or GenAI), social anxiety, trust, and feedback uptake.

The CRADLE Visiting Scholars Scheme aims to accelerate collaborative efforts with research partners from across Australia and New Zealand. By supporting Visiting Scholars to visit the CRADLE team at Deakin Downtown in the Melbourne CBD, the Scheme offers opportunities for intensive research work, capacity building and mutual exchange.
