Ed tech researcher development opportunity
23 August 2022
Associate Director of CRADLE Professor Phillip Dawson announces the 2022 Australasian Society for Computers in Learning in Tertiary Education (ASCILITE) Spring into Excellence Research School and the call for Expressions of Interest to join the event, to be held at Deakin Downtown.
The 2022 ASCILITE Spring into Excellence Research School will be co-hosted by CRADLE this year in conjunction with Monash University’s Hub for Educational Design and Innovation (HEDI), and held at Deakin Downtown.
The Research School is for staff from across the Australasian region, and as co-hosts, CRADLE has five free places to offer to Deakin staff. The dates for 2022 are 24 – 26 October.
The aim of the ASCILITE Spring into Excellence Research School is to:
- Provide support and guidance to participants in developing and progressing Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) research initiatives including but not limited to:
– Formulating a relevant and effective TEL research project.
– Collecting appropriate TEL research data.
– Identifying what data is most appropriate for TEL research. - Assist participants to identify and plan a contemporary TEL research project.
- Enable opportunities for participants to link with like-minded collaborators from other universities and potentially to establish viable cross-institutional research collaborations.
- Guide participants in developing a grant application or research plan for a TEL research project. This would include both projects that have already been conceptualised as well as new projects that have not yet been conceived.
The Research School is targeted at staff who are early in their educational technology research journey (i.e. not experienced ed tech researchers), and it covers the fundamentals of doing research in this space. It is led by senior researchers and includes opportunities for mentoring and networking in small groups with colleagues from across the sector.
Further details on the research school can be found on the ASCILITE website.
Deakin staff who wish to take up one of CRADLE’s five free places should complete the ASCILITE Research School EOI Form and submit it to [email protected] by 9 September 2022. EOIs for these Deakin places will be reviewed by a representative from CRADLE and a representative from HEDI Monash. Outcome notifications will be sent out by 16 September 2022.
Staff from outside Deakin are welcome to apply as well via the instructions on the ASCILITE website.
