CRADLE Seminar Series: Ernesto Panadero
9 September 2016
On 7 September, 2016, CRADLE hosted the first of two seminars by CRADLE Honorary Professor and Visiting Academic Dr. Ernesto Panadero. Dr. Panadero’s seminar, ‘How Can We Promote Self-Regulated Learning via Classroom Assessment? A Closer Look to Self and Peer Assessment’, explored self-regulated learning (SRL) with a particular focus on its definition and one of the most prevalent SRL frameworks, the Zimmerman model.
In addition, the seminar sought to examine how SRL processes work. Dr. Panadero discussed how SRL can be linked to classroom assessment practices in order to enhance students’ self-regulatory processes, and peer and self-assessment were identified as two means of integrating SRL within classroom assessment. The latest empirical advances in peer and self-assessment were also presented. Dr. Panadero provided practical suggestions on integrating peer and self-assessment in the classroom, through a range of instructional and learning strategies designed to enhance students’ SRL.
Dr. Panadero is a CRADLE Honorary Professor, and is currently undertaking an academic visitation with CRADLE. Dr. Panadero is funded at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid under the Ramón y Cajal Excellence Program for Research, and has an excellent publication record in respected English-language journals. His research interests include assessment for learning, self-assessment, peer assessment, and self-regulated and socially shared regulated learning.
