A significant part of higher education research has always been about ensuring that important messages and outcomes can reach others, so knowledge is shared and findings can be built upon. However, in 2018 the Australian Government formalised the process, holding its first national impact and engagement assessment exercise in order to understand how universities are translating their research into economic, environmental, social, cultural and other benefits. These benefits must extend beyond academic research.
Our esteemed panel will briefly describe their research trajectories and associated impact, as well as their insights into strengthening and evidencing impact and engagement.
After the conversation concludes, join us for networking over nibbles and drinks.

Professor Peter Goodyear (University of Sydney)
Peter Goodyear is a Professor of Education at The University of Sydney and was founding co-director of the University’s Centre for Research on Learning and Innovation.
Professor Jill Blackmore (Deakin University)
Jill Blackmore is Alfred Deakin Professor in the Faculty of Arts and Education, Deakin University, former Director of the Centre for Research in Educational Futures and Innovation and Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences Australia.
Associate Professor Ly Tran (Deakin University)
Ly Tran is an Associate Professor in the School of Education, Deakin University and an Australian Research Council (ARC) Future Fellow.
Professor David Boud (Deakin University)
David Boud is Alfred Deakin Professor and Foundation Director of the Centre for Research in Assessment and Digital Learning (CRADLE), Deakin University, and Emeritus Professor at the University of Technology Sydney.
