Client Relationships + MHFA®

This interactive online training course equips participants in Australia and New Zealand with the tools and skills to build trust and better support colleagues and clients facing mental health issues.

As businesses big and small continue to struggle in this uncertain and challenging economic outlook, you may have experienced highly distressed clients, some at breaking point. Many of these clients are also looking to their business advisers to extend from the traditionally transactional roles to performing a more strategic advisory role.

Did you know what to do, what to say? How do you balance being supportive when navigating challenging conversations involving financial and mental wellbeing, and encouraging help-seeking through clinical professional pathways?

Our training upskills business professionals by integrating Mental Health First Aid® (MHFA®) training with client relationship-centred communication and interpersonal skills that support the business and mental health-related needs of their clients, whilst protecting their own wellbeing.

What you will learn

Client Relationship Building Training (RBT) module

The client Relationship Building Training (RBT) module provides participants with a useful framework to identify and refine interpersonal skills needed to have empathetic, often difficult, conversations about mental health and financial wellbeing. Some of the difficult conversations explored include deep-diving into underlying issues, handling verbal aggression, and handling upset or distressed clients. The overall goal of RBT is to help you get even better at developing longer-term, trusting and mutually beneficial relationships with your clients.

Learning outcomes

  • Improve knowledge of how to build trust with clients,
  • Develop the skills required to have conversations with clients experiencing financial and psychological distress, and/or uncover underlying issues,
  • Improve self-awareness to better support clients,
  • Increase self-care skills.
