Dr. John Long
John Long is a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment at Deakin University. His research is in the field of material science and focuses on atomic emission spectrometry analysis of thin surfaces such as coatings on metals like steel. Some of the applications of his research are working with manufacturing industries to analyse the surface layers of tools in machining to make them hard, sharp or wear resistant with a focus on efficiency and cost.
