Dr. Benjamin Long
Benjamin Long is a Chemistry researcher and lecturer at Deakin University and his research focuses on looking at how molecules interact with each other. He centres on core chemistry and materials chemistry such as making beads that are colour responsive to pollutants in water such as phosphates.
He is particularly interested in finding cheap, easy to use and readily available detection methods to detect molecules in biomedical or environmental situations. Being able to easily detect molecules without sending them away for testing will mean that these tests will be more readily and easily used in a range of situations. Benjamin’s research involves reading about past and current research in his field that then informs him about experiments that he needs to plan and conduct.
