Children & Leadership Futures is a research and engagement initiative based at Deakin Business School that investigates how children and young people understand and imagine leadership and what their perspectives reveal about creating more inclusive leadership cultures for the future.
Bringing together insights from leadership studies, organisational behaviour, developmental psychology, education, and social innovation, the initiative explores how early ideas about leadership form and how they shape future expectations, behaviours, and opportunities.
Through participatory research, creative inquiry, and partnerships, we work alongside children and young people, educators, families, and system leaders to challenge narrow leadership ideals and co-create new pathways for influence, representation, and decision-making.
Our goal is to inform inclusive leadership development, policy, and practice across schools, organisations, and communities and to centre the voices of children in building more equitable leadership futures.
We welcome collaboration with researchers, educators, policymakers, organisational and community partners who share a commitment to reimagining leadership from the ground up.
